My collection is about conveying feminine power by breaking free from the constraints of unhealthy trends and aesthetics.
As a woman, I find there are too many stereotypes about the female body, which affect women’s freedom to choose what clothes to wear. I believe that society holds more control over females’ bodies than they do. There are certain standards that have been shaped by a distorted aesthetic influenced by the male perspective in a patriarchal society, and there are toxic aesthetic trends that are unhealthy. Therefore, I aim to create a collection by researching how these elements convey feminine power by breaking free from these constraints.

In my research, I found the work of Australian designer Michaela Stark particularly inspiring. She confronts her childhood body anxieties through her designs, creating delicately crafted corsets that accentuate parts of the body that people are accustomed to concealing, such as fat rolls, stretch marks, or sagging breasts. She reclaims autonomy over her body in her own way. Similarly, in my designs, I aim to convey my thoughts through garments. While we both draw inspiration from corsetry, unlike Stark, I want to oppose the constriction of the body by corsetry and create corsets with a softer, more protective design.

In the collection, I used thermoforming technique to give soft fabrics some organic texture and hardness for creating my corsets, I also applied paint only to the back to enhance the texture. By incorporating some wadding elements to increase the softness and support the garment and connect by ribbon, making it feel like a form of protection and comfort rather than a part of the body that is being gazed.
